Please note: Rebate applications must be submitted from a desktop or laptop computer. Entries submitted from mobile devices cannot be processed at this time.

By using lighting occupancy sensors at your existing facility, which turn off lights when a space is unoccupied, you can capture significant savings. New construction projects do not qualify for this rebate.

How the program works

Tampa Electric provides a rebate of $26 per kW controlled (up to a maximum of 50 percent of the total equipment cost) when you install permanent lighting occupancy sensors that meet our specifications.

Facilities with a floor area greater than or equal to 5,000 square feet and constructed after March 15, 2012, are not eligible for this program.

Occupancy sensor installation shall be hardwired and permanent. Sensors must be new and installed in a manner that meets or exceeds applicable code. Plug based occupancy sensors are not eligible for rebate.

Pre-approval is required

Before work begins, please submit the following information to Tampa Electric using the Lighting Occupancy Sensor program rebate application. After you submit the application, you will receive an enrollment/confirmation number that you can use to access your application. Be sure to write down and save the enrollment/confirmation number.

  • Tampa Electric customer account number
  • Contractor license number
  • Contractor license number expiration date

The application will prompt you to upload the following information:

  • Specification sheets
  • Detailed contractor proposal

Acquiring your rebate

Once work is complete, you must submit a paid receipt/invoice (proof of purchase) to Tampa Electric. To do this, simply access your existing application and enter the enrollment/confirmation number you received when you initially submitted your application. Please allow four weeks for processing.

If you have questions, please email [email protected] or call 813-275-3909 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
